Cake:
2 cups flour
2 cups sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 sticks butter
4 heaping tablespoons cocoa.
1 cup boiling water
1/2 cup buttermilk
2 beaten eggs
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon vanilla
Icing:
1/2 cup pecans finely chopped
1 3/4 sticks butter in a saucepan.
4 heaping tablespoons cocoa
6 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 lb minus 1/2 cup powdered sugar
1. Combine flour, sugar and salt in mixing bowl.
2. In a medium saucepan melt butter and add cocoa. Add boiling water and let boil for 30 seconds. Pour over flour mixture and stir to cool.
3. In measuring cup (Pyrex) combine buttermilk, eggs, baking soda and vanilla.
4. Stir buttermilk mixture into chocolate mixture and pour into greased sheet pan and bake for 15-20 minutes at 350 degrees.
5. While cake is baking, make icing. Melt butter in same dirty saucepan, add cocoa, stir to combine and remove from heat.
6. Add milk and powdered sugar. Stir until smooth and sugar is incorporated, add nuts. When cake is done immediately pour warm icing over hot cake and smooth evenly. Let cool, eat and enjoy.
